Our approach

DebtFree helps you plan and track credit-card payoff. It is built privacy-first: your financial data is stored on your device, not on our servers.

What the app processes

Card details you enter — balances, credit limits, APR, due dates, and names — are saved only on your device.

Bank SMS (Android only): with your explicit permission, the app reads bank and credit-card text messages from the last 90 days to detect balances and payments. Messages are parsed on your device and are never uploaded or shared.

Email (optional): if you connect Gmail, Outlook, or another IMAP account, the app reads bank statement emails to detect balances and payments. Access tokens or IMAP credentials are stored so the app can fetch your mail; for IMAP and Outlook this fetch is performed through our backend solely to retrieve your messages, which are parsed only for card data.

Exchange rates: the app calls a public exchange-rate service to convert currencies. No personal data is sent in these requests.

Ads: the app uses Google AdMob. AdMob may use a device advertising identifier to serve ads.

How it is used

Only to provide payoff planning, to auto-detect your balances and payments, and to show ads that keep the app free.

Storage and retention

App data stays on your device until you remove it — by deleting cards or uninstalling the app. Connected-account tokens and credentials are deleted when you disconnect that account.

Sharing

We do not sell your data. We do not share your card details, SMS, or email content with third parties. Google AdMob receives only the ad-related identifiers needed to serve ads, as described above.

Permissions

SMS (Android): optional, used only to detect bank balances and payments on your device.

Tracking (iOS): optional, requested via App Tracking Transparency. If you decline, you still see ads, but non-personalized ones.

Every permission is optional and can be revoked at any time in your device settings.

Your choices

Revoke SMS or tracking permission anytime in system settings, disconnect any linked email account from the Auto Sync screen, and clear your data by deleting cards or uninstalling the app.

Children

DebtFree is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We may update this policy. When we do, the effective date above will change.
